سُميت شلالات فيكتوريا بهذا الاسم نسبة للملكة فيكتوريا وذلك من قِبل المستكشف الأسكتلندي ديفيد ليفينغستون في نوفمبر 1855 والذي يُعد أول الأوروبيين زيارة لها، إذ كانت تسمى لدى السكان المحليين ومازالت بـ Mosi-oa-Tunya (الدخان ذو الرعد).
Victoria Falls is named after Queen Victoria by David Livingstone, a Scottish explorer who is believed to have been the first European to view Victoria Falls in November 1855, but the locals call the falls as Mosi-oa-Tuny which means: The Smoke That Thunders

حيث تُظهر هذه المقارنة أن فيكتوريا وإجوازو هما الأكثر ارتفاعًا والأكبر عرضًا ، وتتفوق عليهما شلالات نياجارا من حيث متوسط معدل التدفق السنوي، وتحصل فيكتوريا على أدنى معدل تدفق سنوي نظرًا لقلة منسوب مياه شلالاتها خلال موسم الشتاء وجفافها كليًا على الجانب الزامبي.
Based on this comparison, Iguasu Falls and Victoria Falls are taller and wider comparing to Niagara Falls, while Niagara Falls has a larger flow rate than the other two. Victoria Falls flow rate is lower as the water levels are running low especially in the winter as the water almost dry up in the Zambian side
جسر شلالات فيكتوريا
وهو الجسر الشهير الواقع في الجانب الزامبي والرابط بين الدولتين عبورًا فوق نهر زامبيزي.
يبلغ طول الجسر 198 متر على ارتفاع 129 متر.
وهو جسر مخصص للمشاة والسيارات وسكة لقطارات الشحن والركاب، ومن خلاله يمكن ممارسة نشاط سياحي وهو القفز بالحبل Bungee Jumping
Victoria Falls Bridge
A bridge crosses the Zambezi River in the Zambian side and links Zambia with Zimbabwe. The bridge is 198 metres long and a height of 129 metres.
Victoria Falls Bridge carries a road, railway and footway between Zambia and Zimbabwe. Many tourists also experience bungee jumping off the bridge

The crossing point between Zimbabwe and Zambia
The crossing point at Victoria Falls is busy of tourists and residents crossing the border into the countries. It is also a place for commercial trade for many residents. The pictures below show the border sign of Zambia as well as on the opposite side just 3 metres away there is a sign of Zimbabwe border

The best place to see Victoria Falls
Each country has a spectacular view to Victoria Falls, but Zimbabwe was considered the best country to view the Victoria Falls as it has the two-third of the falls, but you can easily cross the border between the countries. Crossing the borders requires the standard entry requirement to enter the country

وفقا لحسابات الفصول فإن مستويات المياه تكون مرتفعة (من فبراير إلى يونيو). أما في الأشهر الأكثر جفافًا (سبتمبر إلى بدايات نوفمبر) تجف الشلالات على الجانب الزامبي تمامًا!. وتتدفق الشلالات الرئيسية في الجانب الزمبابوي على مدار السنة، وفي هذا الموسم من العام ومع انخفاض منسوب المياه يمكن السباحة في بركة الشيطان Devil’s Pool وهي واحدة من أشهر الأنشطة السياحية في شلالات فيكتوريا.
Best time to visit Victoria Falls
February to June when water flowing at its greatest volume is the best time to visit Victoria Falls because in September to November, the water level is low, and the Zambian side may dry up completely. In Zimbabwe, the falls never dry up even at the height of the dry season. In the dry season also when the water level is low, tourists can enjoy swimming at Devil’s Pool, swimming on the edge of Victoria Falls

In the Zimbabwe side, Victoria Falls town is located just two kilometres from Victoria Falls. This town is so expensive compared to Livingstone. It has so many cafes, accommodations, Elephant’s Walk Shopping and Artist’s village as well as open door shopping area which is a great place for souvenir shopping, particularly for sculpture and handmade crafts
